Fancam has installed cameras in several sporting venues to improve its process, and the result is a better product for fans attending games to take advantage of.
Fancam in-stadium installations represent a great upgrade for a product that fans have already been enjoying. With dedicated cameras now in place in five sporting venues and others soon to be added, the frequency and speed at which Fancam can deliver its product to customers is increasing as well.
“There are two different ways we capture pictures,” said Fancam managing director for North America, Michael Proman. “We started about seven years ago with sending a physical photographer to the games. The process to shoot the game took about two to three minutes, and then it took about 24 hours to stitch it all together and present it. It was a challenging process. With our automation enabled by cameras installed in the venues, we are taking multiple images over the course of the game and are able to capture the emotion that comes from crowds in great moments. That cuts the delivery time down to a matter of minutes or hours as well.”
Fancam’s hardware has been installed at Madison Square Garden, TD Garden, AT&T Park, SunTrust Park and Minute Maid Park. Proman says that he anticipates adding two or three times more NBA, NFL and NHL venues by this fall.
Fans at the venues that either now or will soon feature Fancam installations can not only browse the Fancam to find themselves in the crowds during the games but share those images of themselves with contacts on social channels free of charge. In addition, many fans have utilized Fancam to share images of celebrities in attendance or crowd moments like a fan catching a foul ball while holding a child.

“What’s important to us is providing personalized content at scale,” Pronam added. “We want to get to the point where we have hardware installed at every venue, and Fancam is part of the experience of each game. We want to be able to provide value nearly 24/7 and make these moments synonymous with the game day experience.”
As live sports in venues become less about the games in their entirety and more about the experience of being at the venue when moments occur, Fancam is a great way for fans to memorialize moments that they were present for which are special to them. The new Fancam installations maximize the opportunity for those moments to be captured.
