The Sixers had the potential to come away with two lottery picks depending on the Lakers’ results, and Joel Embiid threw some shade at Magic Johnson.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers each had high stakes for their picks at the NBA Draft Lottery, and they sent Joel Embiid and Magic Johnson to represent their respective teams.

The Lakers survived with their pick, landing in the top three of the lottery. If they hadn’t, the Sixers would’ve grabbed both their own pick and the Lakers’ pick. Likely on purpose, Embiid and Johnson were seated next to each other, and Embiid (of course) provided some great moments to make the lottery worth watching.

Embiid will be back on the court from his injury in about two or three weeks, but he already played a big role for the team off the court in the lottery. The team landed the third pick, falling behind Johnson and the Lakers, but not before Embiid threw some shade at Johnson.

The man known as “The Process,” when asked about the night before the order was picked, stared down Johnson and said he felt good about where the night was headed.

“I think we have a good chance of taking their pick,” Embiid said. “Hopefully we take that pick too.”

The Lakers ended up surviving the night and even got a better pick than the team they were “competing” with. Although his team didn’t get the pick, Embiid also had plenty of preparation as far as staying hydrated for the night, keeping up with his Shirley Temples throughout the night.

While the lottery may not have gone his team’s way, Embiid surely made it an entertaining one to watch. The “Trust The Process” process didn’t fully pay off at the event, but the Sixers should be fine once their team is fully healthy and matured.
