The New York Knicks received the eight overall pick in tonight’s NBA Draft Lottery and, naturally, the fans on Twitter were less than thrilled.

New York Knicks fans were none too happy with the results of the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night.

This was not because New York had the league’s seventh-worst record and got a pick higher than that, but probably because the team’s 5.3 percent chance of landing the top pick did not come through.

Sure enough, the story told on Twitter features quite the number of emotional reactions from the ever-tortured Knicks faithful.

There you have it, folks. The frustration of Knicks’ fans knows no bounds. From one praising the GM of the longtime rival Boston Celtics to even saying the lowly Brooklyn Nets may look better by comparison to GIFs of Rob Schneider and the ever amazing Michael Scott, it’s safe to say that New Yorkers are running out of patience.

The worst of it is that even if the Knicks make a strong pick at No. 8, like N.C. State point man Dennis Smith or Kentucky 2-guard Malik Monk, fans will still find a way to complain just as they did about Kristaps Porzingis in 2015. The Knicks have struggled for so long that every move is met with scrutiny.

That is because New York Knicks fans have little reason for excitement in 2017-18. Phil Jackson’s public feud with Carmelo Anthony is irreparable. New York has won a postseason series just once since 2000.

Worst of all, owner James Dolan can’t seem to stay out of personnel decisions and trust his front office.

That said, New York Knicks fans melting down on Twitter is not at all a surprise. From winning a meaningless final game of the season to falling in the draft and possibly losing out on a top player, there aren’t many reasons for fans to smile.

Thus, this one tweet in particular shouldn’t be a surprise at all.
