Patrick Mahomes was one of the top picks in the 2017 NFL Draft, but he was a part of one scary situation on Friday night.
The Kansas City Chiefs traded up 17 spots in the 2017 NFL Draft to select Patrick Mahomes II, an incredible quarterback talent out of Texas Tech. On Friday, back in Texas, Mahomes was a victim of aggravated robbery after returning home with friends following a baseball game. The suspects were eventually caught, and Mahomes was unhurt, but it was definitely a scary situation for the young signal-caller.
Eddie Lacy has struggled with weight problems during his time in the NFL, and his new team, the Seattle Seahawks, are trying to make sure that is not an issue during his tenure with the team. Lacy earned a $55,000 bonus for weighing in under 255 pounds, barely making it with a number of 253. He will be expected to carry the load for the Seahawks this season, as part of a committee of running backs that includes Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise.
Tom Brady is arguably the best quarterback in the history of the NFL, just don’t try to get him to admit that. Speaking with ESPN’s Ian O’Connor, Brady downplayed talk of being the best to ever do it at his position, despite the fact he has won five Super Bowl rings as quarterback of the New England Patriots. Brady was a boyhood fan of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana, who is really the only other signal-caller in the discussion at this point.
From one veteran quarterback, to a rookie, as Mitchell Trubisky has been impressive during his short time with the Chicago Bears. Head coach John Fox said that Trubisky had a “great” rookie camp, though that will likely have little effect on the depth chart heading into the regular season. The Bears spent a good amount of money bringing Mike Glennon in to be their starter for at least this season, which means Trubisky is likely to spend his rookie season holding a clipboard.

Vince Biegel was standout linebacker for the University of Wisconsin Badgers during his time in college, and will stay in-state to play professionally, as he was a 2017 NFL Draft pick of the Green Bay Packers. His pro career has gotten off to a rough start, as he broke his foot during rookie camp. The team expects him to be back by training camp, and the hope is he can bring the same kind of passion to Wisconsin’s pro team as he did to their college team.
