Transfer rumor roundup 5/16: Kimmich seeking Bayern exit

Here’s a roundup of the latest news and transfer rumors surrounding which players could be joining new teams in the coming months.

Tuesday’s transfer news is led by Stuttgarter Zeitung’s report that Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich has requested to be sold this summer.

The 22-year-old, who is a former youth player of Stuttgart, has not been assured by manager Carlo Ancelotti that he’ll be right-back Philipp Lahm’s successor at Bayern, causing Kimmich to seek a significant role elsewhere.

With next summer’s World Cup in mind, Kimmich could reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, who are known to be in the market for new full-backs.

Guardiola handed Kimmich his Bayern debut last season, when the defender made 15 starts in total. Although Kimmich has matched that amount this time around, scoring five Bundesliga goals, Ancelotti has played him a full 90 minutes just four times in 2017.

Along with Manchester City, the club Kimmich joined Bayern from, RB Leipzig, are also said to be interested in Kimmich, who would arguably be the brightest of the club’s many fast-rising German talents should he return. Bayern have reacted angrily to the rumors, however, and have even threatened Stuttgarter Zeitung with legal action.

While the exact transfer fee Kimmich would warrant is unknown, L’Equipe reports Montpellier standout Ryad Boudebouz has been given a €15 million price tag.

The attacking midfielder is finishing up his best season yet, evidenced by his 11 goals and nine assists in 32 Ligue 1 appearances.

With a penchant for taking on defenders and setting up his teammates, Boudebouz has attracted Premier League sides Southampton and Everton.

However, according to the report, Lyon have recently registered their interest in the Algerian, who thus far has spent his entire professional career in France.

Besides Boudebouz, another player on Everton’s transfer radar this summer is West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, according to The Mirror.

With midfielder Ross Barkley looking destined to be sold after continuing to reject a new contract, Toffees boss Ronald Koeman figures to need an influx of attacking talent.

Enter Lanzini, who has tallied 14 goals and four assists since arriving in England ahead of last season.

While the 24-year-old would seemingly be a perfect fit for Everton’s aspirations, West Ham reportedly won’t let him leave easily, particularly after they were forced to sell playmaker Dimitri Payet in January.

Another player that could cost a pretty penny this summer is Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho.

According to The Guardian, the Reds will demand £30 million for the center-back, who has been instrumental in Crystal Palace’s avoidance of relegation.

After being loaned to the Eagles in January following a falling out with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, Sakho started eight games for Palace. In those matches, Sam Allardyce’s men gathered 16 of their 41 points on the season and kept four clean sheets to boot.

Despite a knee injury truncating his stint in London, the 27-year-old is reportedly one of Palace’s top priorities this offseason, but knowing the haul they got for Yannick Bolasie last summer, Liverpool won’t let the Eagles have Sakho for cheap.

That could result in protracted transfer saga similar to Christian Benteke’s move from Anfield to Selhurst Park last year.

According to The Mirror, Hull City’s Andrew Robertson is slated to arrive at Anfield this summer.

The 23-year-old left-back has been one of the Tigers’ top performers this season, but his displays weren’t enough to see Hull dodge relegation.

With that fate sealed, Robertson, Hull and Liverpool are all said to have agreed to a transfer once the summer window opens.

Once confirmed as a Liverpool player, Robertson is expected to push veteran James Milner for playing time, potentially allowing Miler to return to his usual midfield position.

One move that has been confirmed is French striker Sebastien Haller’s transfer from FC Utrecht to Eintracht Frankfurt.

After first appearing in the Eredivisie in 2014, Haller went on to register 43 goals and 15 assists for Utrecht. Across all competition for the Dutch club, he notched 49 goals in 94 games.

Standing 6-foot-3, the 22-year-old represents a promising signing for the German side, who sit in 11th place in the Bundesliga with one game remaining.
