Alien: Covenant will be the latest big name movie to hit theaters, but can you view it in 3D?
The spring season’s latest movie release will be Alien: Covenant, which is the next film in the Alien series. It’s considered part of the prequels, with Prometheus being the first of them in 2012. This franchise began in 1979 with Alien. Following this would be Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection from the 1980s to the 1990s.
With the Alien series or any other movie, a consistent question has become if it will be available in 3D? Some moviegoers love the eye-popping visuals that make them feel like they’re involved in the scene, while others will prefer the standard 2D screen. Recent big name hits like The Fate of the Furious and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 were in 3D, but Logan, which came out in March, was not. So not every marquee box office hit will receive this treatment.
Alien: Covenant will not be available in 3D, meaning there won’t be any aliens jumping out at you through the screen. It shouldn’t take away from the experience, however, with potential suspense and exciting moments filling this movie.
Alien: Covenant is set for a worldwide release soon. It had its official premiere in London, England, on May 5, as well as preview screenings already taking place. The movie stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride, among others.
As of May 16, Alien: Covenant was Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning the movie mostly received good reviews. This is a good start for the film before fans are able to see it, which will help its perception.
