Matt Hardy seems intent on wanting the “Broken” character to get a shot at the Eater of Worlds.

At this year’s WrestleMania event, Matt and Jeff Hardy caused  75,000 fans at the Citrus Bowl to lose their collective minds when that familiar Attitude Era theme welcomed them back to WWE. The big question surrounding their return was what version of the brothers would we get? More importantly, would we see the “Broken” version of Matt Hardy?

Some of the mannerisms have been there from the character we saw take flight during his time at Impact Wrestling. The dual-colored hair has stayed, but the unique voice and dialogue haven’t been there. And with his arrival has been the constant fantasy booking of who he could face.

In a recent interview with SPORTBible, Matt revealed that he wants his “Broken” persona to face off against Bray Wyatt and one or two other familiar faces.

"I think down the road there will be a potential for both of us doing our own things; we’re both strong singles personalities in many ways, and I think as performers we’ve grown as we got older; we’ve got smarter.Just for starters, if we get to where we need to be, I think “Broken” Matt Hardy against Bray Wyatt would be an amazing deal, and you look at him [Jeff] – him vs. Seth Rollins, him vs. Finn Balor, either one of us vs. Roman Reigns – there’s a lot of cool, interesting combinations of guys who became stars in the last five or six years that we’ve never worked against, it’s totally like a fresh slate. So there’s a lot of potential forces as singles competitors also."

The thought of “Broken” Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt is absolutely incredible … if done right. Both personalities have their own cult following, and the mind games that could be played on both sides would make Monday Night Raw 100 percent more fun to watch.  And if you remember, some seeds have already been planted in some way.

Back in December, Matt was the first to call out Bray and the Wyatt Family. When the Hardy Boyz were on their mission to capture every tag team title in existence, they set their sights on Bray and Randy Orton’s titles.

As you can see, Bray responded. Matt would keep quiet about the situation until after Randy turned on Bray earlier this year. But unfortunately, we haven’t seen much come out of their exchange since the Hardyz have returned to WWE.

The fan response to those original tweets was incredible. If the WWE Universe allows their voice to get loud enough, the ones that have their own offices in Stamford could take notice and make things really interesting.

Personally, I’d LOVE to see this match. The two characters are among the most unique that we see every week on WWE television. But if Matt is allowed to return to his “broken” ways, they could have a memorable feud, and something fresh…which is ALWAYS welcome.
