The 2017 NFL season is the final year of Derek Carr’s rookie contract, and the star quarterback of the Oakland Raiders wants to get a new deal done.

Derek Carr has emerged as a star in the NFL over his first three seasons in the league, leading the Oakland Raiders out of the cellar of the AFC West. However, he is beginning to get impatient about the pace of his new deal, which is expected to bring him Andrew Luck-type money. Oakland is a favorite to go deep into the playoffs in 2017 after winning 12 games last season, and Carr is just hoping to get the deal done prior to training camp.

One quarterback who inexplicably has no NFL job is Colin Kaepernick, who put up solid numbers on a very bad San Francisco 49ers team last season. Blaine Gabbert, who did not have close to the year Kaepernick did under center for the 49ers in 2016, has found work, making Kaepernick’s unemployment a head-scratcher. He has recently been linked to the Seattle Seahawks, which would be a perfect fit according to the team’s star defensive end, Michael Bennett.

Jason McCourty came into the NFL as a late-round selection of the Tennessee Titans but worked his way up to be one of the better cornerbacks in the AFC South. The Titans let him walk after last season, but their loss is the Cleveland Browns’ gain, as the AFC North team inked McCourty to a two-year deal on  Tuesday. McCourty is the twin brother of Devin McCourty, who is one of the best safeties in the game.

Adam Jones seems to always find trouble, and on Tuesday, he plead guilty to a misdemeanor obstruction charge, stemming from an altercation this year. Jones has had his fair share of off-the-field issues since coming into the league, but has remained a solid cornerback throughout his career. Now 33 years old, Jones’ best years may be behind him as he looks for one more shot at a title with the Cincinnati Bengals this season.

For Brandon Graham, his brief absence from the Philadelphia Eagles was never about his contract. The defensive end actually was just trying to spend time with his young family, and is happy with not only his contract but playing in Philly. The Eagles are expected to contend in a solid NFC East in 2017, and they definitely need his body up front on the defensive line if they hope to do so.
