Will Tom Brady be suspended for concussion?
By John Buhler
If hard evidence arises from the New England Patriots covering up Tom Brady having concussions, could the quarterback be suspended? What about the team?
On Wednesday morning, retired model Gisele Bundchen appeared on CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose. Bundchen spoke on several topics, but the one that is clearly registering is that her husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, may have had a concussion or four covered up by the Patriots organization.
Given the NFL’s shady past in dealing with head-related injuries, this could be an absolutely monstrous story in the media. Brady is considered to be the best quarterback of all-time, as he has led the Patriots to five Super Bowl Championships.
Add in that the Patriots have had two previous scandals with the NFL and this could end very poorly for Brady and New England if hard evidence does arise from this potential coverup. Could Brady be suspended for the second time in two years? What could this mean for the Patriots organization?
Let’s be totally honest here. If the NFL cannot find any hard evidence that the Patriots organization did cover up one to four alleged concussions by Brady, then New England is in the clear. In that case, Brady doesn’t miss a game and New England will probably end up being one of the final four teams in the NFL Playoffs.
However if there is clear and convincing evidence of a blatant cover up, then get ready for the biggest scandal in NFL history. We would have to expect that the Patriots would lose a future first-round draft pick. Brady would have to be suspended for at least four games, probably eight and maybe the whole season.
Precedent from the BountyGate scandal involving the New Orleans Saints in 2009 could indicate that head coach Bill Belichick would be suspended for the entire season, assuming he had involvement in an alleged cover up.
One would have to believe that New England’s punishment for ConcussionGate would exceed anything that came from BountyGate and DeflateGate as a repeat offender in the NFL’s eyes. Instituting an SMU Mustangs level Death Penalty seems borderline insane, but we would have to expect the NFL to lay the hammer down on the Patriots for sure.

Let’s just hope that this alleged cover up is entirely fabrication. Otherwise, this would be beyond devastating to the Patriots brand and it would make the shield look so bad. Commissioner Roger Goodell is not going to have that by any means.
