When did Tom Brady sustain concussions?
Gisele Bundchen revealed her husband and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a concussion. When precisely did this happen?
The NFL has been suffering for their perceived lack of caring about concussions. Lawsuits might be just the start of their problems. While the league has taken great strides in implementing their concussion protocol, which is a model example in professional sports, players are still getting hurt. On Good Morning America, Tom Brady’s better half Gisele Bundchen revealed the New England Patriots quarterback suffered a concussion last year and admitted he had numerous ones in the past.
When did this happen? Honestly, it’s hard to tell. The Patriots haven’t listed Brady on the injury report with a concussion in over four years. But this shouldn’t be too surprising. Brady puts himself in dangerous situations from time to time. Most notably, he’s never afraid to take the ball up the middle in short-yardage situations. It’s quite likely Brady suffered a concussion during one of those, or when he took a hard shot standing in the pocket.
This puts the NFL in a very awkward position. Arguably its biggest star has concussion issues. The league has tried to address the problem and deserves a ton of credit for doing so. Regardless of the motivations behind the improvements to concussion protocol, looking at the other leagues, the NFL should be applauded because no other league gets it.
However, with Brady’s issues being revealed, the league has to take another long look at how they can help prevent something which might not be able to be prevented.
