A Chicago Cubs fan fell to his death on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field, following their game with the Cincinnati Reds.

A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan lost his life on Wednesday night, after falling over a rail at Wrigley Field. Richard Garrity, 42, was leaving the park after the Cubs victory over the Reds when he fell over a railing and suffered head trauma.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. An ambulance rushed him to a medical facility in Chicago, where he was pronounced dead after his arrival.

The Cubs issued a brief statement, offering their thoughts and prayers to his family, following the accident.

"Following yesterday’s game, a male fan was injured after a fall as he was exiting the ballpark. Paramedics responded immediately and transported him to a local hospital. We have since learned he passed away today, though we have no further information. The thoughts and prayers of our organization are with his family during this difficult time."

Garrity was a manager for Heineken, a lifelong Cubs fan according to his family and social media accounts, and was simply enjoying an outing at Wrigley Field and was heading home to his family when this happened.
