8. Hornswoggle announced as Vince McMahon’s illegitimate son; 2007

2007 was the dumbest year in the history of Vince McMahon being on camera in WWE. I don’t really think I’m exaggerating here either.

Not only did McMahon “die” in a limo explosion (that had to be scratched because of the double murder-suicide involving Chris Benoit that summer), he had his head shaved by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Donald Trump and Bobby Lashley, then won the ECW Championship, wore a du-rag and had a illegitimate son investigation that ended with Hornswoggle being his son.

See, I told you it was dumb.

The storyline was rumored to have Mr. Kennedy (the last name that happens to be Vince’s middle name) become the newest McMahon on screen and launch him into the main event picture. I mean, Kennedy defeated countless world champions in some form or fashion during his time in WWE, so why not?

Of course, that’s not the route McMahon and the writing team went and Hornswoggle was announced as McMahon’s child. It got weird after that with Fit Finlay then claiming Hornswoggle was his child, but at least Triple H’s reaction to the results of the investigation makes up for some of how bad this storyline was as a whole.
