The Boston Celtics were mercilessly routed by the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and Twitter showed no mercy as well

With the Boston Celtics having earned home-court advantage in the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals, fans may have had some hope. Hey, maybe there will be a win in TD Garden that will boost the Cs forward against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

That’s a nice thought. However, it’s also a logical fallacy. It completely negates the simple fact that LeBron doesn’t became LeBron in bright, flashing letters until the postseason. And when he does, a team like the Celtics doesn’t really stand much of a chance. As such, the Cavs thrashed Boston in Game 1. The only hope was to get better in Game 2 — that didn’t remotely happen either.

Boston amassed just 18 points in the first half against Cleveland. Meanwhile, the Cavs dropped 32 on the Celtics. If you thought it couldn’t get any worse from there, though, you’d be wrong. The Cavaliers continued their routing by outscoring the Celtics 40-13 in the second quarter. It was a blowout of the highest regard right away. It was laughable and sad all in one package.

Naturally, the good people of Twitter (how is this app still free?!) provided their own commentary. And yes, it was indeed glorious:

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t know if the Cavaliers are ready for Stephen Curry in the Warriors just yet. The Celtics had a great regular season, but let’s not be out here acting like they are in the same class as Golden State — or obviously the Cavs.
