During the 2016 NFL Playoffs, the Atlanta Falcons put on an impressive run, making it all the way to Super Bowl LI. In fact, they should have won the big game easily, but blew a 28-3 fourth quarter lead to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Throughout the entire season, the Falcons offense was a juggernaut, with quarterback Matt Ryan winning his first NFL Most Valuable Player Award.

Heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, many expected that the Falcons would improve on one of two spots on their offense. While they do need an offensive guard, there was some talented tight ends in the draft as well, who would be a major upgrade over the likes of Austin Hooper and Levine Toilolo. Hooper is a nice young player, but bringing in a veteran like Vernon Davis would do wonders for his development.

The Washington Redskins need a lot of help, and stockpiling draft picks may be the way to go. In exchange for Davis, the Skins could pick up a late-round draft pick in 2018, as they already have Jordan Reed and Niles Paul to man the position in 2017. The addition of Davis would give Ryan the veteran presence at the position he has been lacking since Tony Gonzalez retired, giving the Falcons a red-zone threat they can rely on.

It is very well possible that the Falcons make it back to the Super Bowl next season, but they will have to navigate a very tough NFC South. Davis would be a welcome addition to an offense that should be able to put points on the board in bunches in 2017. And with an already stocked roster, they can afford to get rid of one of their draft picks in exchange for him.
