Jets Get
Cornerback Darius Butler
Colts Get
Defensive End Anthony Johnson

The 2016 version of the New York Jets was a joke, as they could not get out of their own way at times. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick did not resemble the signal-caller from the year before, and in the process, the team won only five games. This offseason, the team has shifted into rebuilding mode, but they could still swing a deal to grab a solid cornerback for the upcoming season.

So far this offseason, the Jets have made moves to get rid of most of the veteran talent on their roster. Guys like Brandon Marshall, Nick Mangold, and Darrelle Revis are all gone, replaced with players who are far less than household names. It is going to be a rocky season for head coach Todd Bowles, who may lose his job if the Jets are as bad as they were last season.

One move they could make is to trade with the Indianapolis Colts for Darius Butler, who would give them some depth at the cornerback position. With Revis gone, the Jets already brought in Morris Claiborne this offseason, which is an upgrade over the aging Revis. Butler is a solid cover corner who would likely start over a player like Buster Skrine.

This team may not win five games this season, and it is likely they will be picking in the top of the 2018 NFL Draft. In order to get Butler, they could trade away Anthony Johnson, who would give the Colts a solid player up front. Butler is a player who could become part of the solution in New York.
