Tommaso Ciampa injury update: No break or fracture in ankle
By Carl Gac
After seeing Tommaso Ciampa suffer an injury at an NXT Live Event, Triple H gave an update on his injury.
You may have seen the news that Tommaso Ciampa had suffered some kind of injury during an NXT live event on Thursday night. Ahead of Ciampa’s match, alongside his #DIY tag team partner Johnny Gargano, at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, it looked like Ciampa may be out of the match, but according to Triple H the injury isn’t as bad as feared.
Ciampa and Gargano are set to face current NXT Tag Team Champions the Authors of Pain at TakeOver: Chicago, in a Ladder match with the tag titles on the line. Both teams are in the upper echelon of the NXT tag division, and any injury to Ciampa could have thrown a big stumbling block in the current plans.
During the match at the live event, Ciampa jumped from the ring apron to attack members of SanitY and looked to roll his ankle. The referee in the match threw up the X sign with his arms and the match was immediately ended, with Ciampa being helped to the back. If he had broken his ankle he would have been ruled out for months, something that may have stalled his, and Gargano’s NXT careers somewhat.

With Triple H confirming that Ciampa hasn’t broken his ankle, and that the match was only stopped as a precaution, it shows just how important wrestler safety is to the company. If Ciampa had broken his ankle, or suffered ligament damage, then the tag match at TakeOver: Chicago would have been in serious jeopardy.
As Triple H also noted, it will now be down to the NXT medical team to decide whether Ciampa is fit to join Gargano in the match. If he is ruled out it could leave a big hole in the card, as the tag team ladder match is lined up to be one of the highlights of the card on Saturday night in Chicago.
