Is Jeff Gordon in the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race? We let you know if the NASCAR champion is getting back behind the wheel at Charlotte.
Is Jeff Gordon in the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race? Fans are wondering if Gordon may participate in Saturday’s All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, since he is eligible to be part of it under the rules.
We’re sorry to break your hearts, but Jeff Gordon is not in the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race. He’ll continue to enjoy his well-deserved retirement and work with the team at FOX Sports, where presumably he’ll be involved in the race broadcast taking place on FS1.
Gordon, who infamously won the All-Star Race while driving a backup car 16 years ago, has had more than enough to do since hanging up his helmet and giving the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports car over to Chase Elliott.
He has driven the pace car at the Daytona 500, and won the Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance race with Wayne Taylor Racing. When you can make history and get a very expensive watch for it, why come out of retirement? Jeff Gordon’s retirement is busier than some people’s entire careers.
Fans may still see the No. 24 car in the NASCAR All-Star Race, but it will have to drive its way onto the grid. Elliott was not automatically eligible for the main event and will have to earn his spot by either the fan vote (and here’s how you can vote) or the Monster Energy Open. Maybe he can get a few tips from Jeff Gordon on how to succeed at Charlotte Motor Speedway, while Gordon relaxes in the FOX broadcast booth.
