The 2017 Preakness Stakes will run on Saturday, May 20. Here’s a look at its field.

The 2017 Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the Triple Crown season. It follows the Kentucky Derby and precedes the Belmont Stakes. This year, Preakness will be held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The race will be held on Saturday, May 20. It has an expected post time of 6:45 p.m. ET.

Pimlico’s course is 1 3/16 miles long, or 9.5 furlongs. Traditionally, the winner of the first Triple Crown race does very well at Pimlico assuming the track conditions are similar. The track is slightly shorter than the Churchill Downs track, which is 1.25 miles long.

Here’s a quick look at the field of horses who will be running on Saturday.

  • Cloud Computing
  • Hence
  • Always Dreaming
  • Classic Empire
  • Gunnevera
  • Term of Art
  • Senior Investment
  • Lookin At Lee
  • Conquest Mo Money

Entering the festivities, Always Dreaming will be the odds on favorite. His career, though it has been short so far, has shown he can be quite dominant. Always Dreaming pulled away from the pack in Kentucky despite less than ideal track conditions. He’s the fastest horse in the field, so expect him to at least place and most likely win on Saturday.

Always Dreaming won the Kentucky Derby, so he’ll be looking to extend his chase of the Triple Crown. The last horse to win the Triple Crown is American Pharaoh, who did it back in 2015. However, Always Dreaming will have some tough competition. His biggest competitor will be Lookin At Lee, who finished in second place at Churchill Downs. Classic Empire, who finished fourth several Saturdays ago, will present a challenge as well. Gunnevera and Hence, both of whom raced at Churchill Downs, will be there at the Preakness as well.
