Everyone will have eyes on Always Dreaming in the 2017 Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 20, but when is the post time for the race?

There’s nothing quite like the middle of spring in the world of horse racing. Right in the middle of the sport’s three Triple Crown races lies the Preakness Stakes. The excitement is always palpable coming off of the Kentucky Derby as the hope for a new Triple Crown winner is alive. At the 2017 Preakness Stakes, it will be Always Dreaming looking to strike gold at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD.

One year ago, it was muddy conditions at the Preakness Stakes that Exaggerator used to thwart Nyquist’s run at the crown. This year, however, it was through similar conditions that Always Dreaming was able to win the Derby. Now we’ll see if he’s able to go on another track even as the favorite.

Nipping at his heels will most definitely be Classic Empire. Many had Classic Empire circled as a Derby favorite. However, he didn’t have enough of a push down the final stretch in the mud to make it happen. If he wants to get back into the spotlight, he’ll look to run a more complete race at the 2017 Preakness Stakes.

Then again, it’s hard to say that Always Dreaming didn’t run a near perfect race to win in Louisville. He made the push at the right time and still had the juice to pull away for the win. In better conditions, the hope is that he’ll do the same.

Though the main broadcast on NBC begins at 5:00 p.m. ET, post time is a bit after as the horses will ready at 6:45 p.m. ET. You’ll want to be ready for a thrilling two minutes when that time hits.
