Here’s how you can watch the 2017 Preakness Stakes from Pimlico Race Course on Saturday evening.

While it may rank behind the Kentucky Derby in terms of overall prestige, the Preakness Stakes is one of the most anticipated yearly events in horse racing.

Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore has hosted the Preakness since 1873, with the event traditionally taking place two weeks after the Kentucky Derby. The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans is the shortest of the Triple Crown races at 9.5 furlongs and features a purse totaling $1.5 million.

Fans around the nation will tune in on Saturday to see if Derby champion Always Dreaming can move one step closer to history with a victory. Always Dreaming enters the race as a massive favorite at 4/5, with Classic Empire and Lookin at Lee emerging as his main challengers.

Post time for the 2017 Preakness Stakes is set for 6:45 p.m Eastern, with NBC carrying television coverage. Live coverage will start at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on NBCSN before switching over to NBC at 5:00 p.m. Eastern.

NBC’s host team includes Bob Costas, Mike Tirico, Bob Neumeier and Eddie Olczyk, among many others. Saturday’s coverage will also feature a full undercard slate at Pimlico Race Course, including a few more graded stakes.

In addition to race coverage, NBC will air a feature on Always Dreaming trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey John Velazquez, both of whom are coming off their second career Kentucky Derby victories. Analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey will also interview Preakness contenders throughout the telecast.

The full day of buildup will only create more hype for the main event when all eyes will be on Always Dreaming. Should the Derby champion repeat on Saturday, the Belmont Stakes on June 11 will quickly become that much more interesting, as he will get a shot to become the third Triple Crown winner in history.
