WWE Backlash 2017: Full match card
A look at the full match card for the WWE Backlash pay-per-view.
On Sunday night, the WWE Backlash pay-per-view will take place from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL. This is SmackDown Live’s second exclusive show of the year, with the first being Elimination Chamber in February.
The main event of Backlash will see Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal go head-to-head for the WWE Championship. Mahal won a No. 1 Contenders Match for this opportunity in April, defeating five other Superstars. It came as a surprise since he hadn’t been featured in headlining matches before, along with having lost to Mojo Rawley after WrestleMania 33.
Kevin Owens and AJ Styles will fight for the WWE United States Championship. Like Mahal, Styles won a No. 1 Contenders Match to become the next challenger to a belt. This time, it would be for the U.S. Title at Backlash.
The Usos will defend the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against Breezango, the team of Tyler Breeze and Fandango. They won a Beat the Clock Challenge Match to get this chance.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Dolph Ziggler will square off in one of the top undercard bouts of the evening. It’s Nakamura’s first TV match since joining the main roster after WrestleMania, so fans who haven’t seen him in dark matches will witness a “debut.”
