Darrelle Revis rumors: Free agency goes slow

After having his own island, Darrelle Revis has found himself exiled on an island thus far this offseason.

After entering the league as the 14th-overall selection to the New York Jets in the 2007 NFL Draft, Revis has not been shy about making news. However, as the 2017 season is quickly approaching on the horizon, former star corner Darrelle Revis is unable to find a new home.

Revis’ career has been highlighted by seven Pro Bowls, four first-team All-Pro selections, a 2009 Defensive Player of the Year award and a Super Bowl ring during his one season with the 2014 Patriots.

With all of that, it certainly is quiet on the Revis front. A free agent after his release by the Jets at the start of free agency, the question of where, or if Revis will land somewhere is yet to be answered.

Zach Links of Pro Football Talk referenced an interview by Rich Cimini with ESPN done with the ever-popular anonymous coach.

"“He has lost a step with his age and some change-of-direction [ability] with his knee [surgery in 2012],” said one anonymous head coach. “I still believe he can do an adequate job at corner. I’m not sure if he has the range for free safety. He used to be a physical tackler, but with age that’s gotten worse, so playing strong safety is out of the question. Let him play corner with some protection and he’ll do fine.”"

Revis reportedly isn’t looking for any discounts or low cost opportunities. Reportedly looking for 6 million dollars. Based on his apparent drop in play and performance, it certainly doesn’t sound like any team is interested in Revis at the price tag he apparently has set for his services. Cimini referenced a scout in summarizing the Revis situation.
