Kevin Durant spoke with The Undefeated about why he’s content with the choice to leave Oklahoma City for Golden State.

It’s a well known fact within the NBA community that some people were not keen on Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City for Golden State. The 2014 NBA MVP and consensus top five NBA player was chided for going to an established team. Who are some of the players he joined on the Warriors? Two-time MVP Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. All three are considered perennial All-Stars in the NBA.

Principally, this is why the backlash has been so severe for Durant. Durant, according to most basketball pundits, is a once-in-a-generation talent. He doesn’t need to play with Curry and the Warriors. He has the ability to prosper on his own.

But, my general opinion has always been that he went to the Warriors to experience their winning culture. Golden State has been the most successful NBA team for the past three years and it appears Durant was drawn into their appeal.

Still, it doesn’t stop people from asking about his decision every chance they get. Most recently, Durant spoke with The Undefeated about his landmark move and why he’s content with it:

"“I made the 100 percent correct decision, win or lose,” Durant told The Undefeated after the Warriors’ practice at AT&T Center in San Antonio on Sunday. “I feel like this is the place I was supposed to be. I appreciate everything I’ve done before this. But I’m here now, and I feel like it’s a great spot for me to be.“This is where I am supposed to be at this point of my life. I’m taking it on and conquering every day part of it. I’m enjoying every single step.”"

While Durant may never receive the sports world’s support, he’s happy with his decision. The Warriors are currently 13-0 in the NBA Playoffs and are primed for a possible third match with the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Durant in tow, the Warriors should be the favorites to win it all.
