17. Milwaukee — Jason Kidd

There’s been a rumor in Milwaukee over the past few seasons that Bucks head coach Jason Kidd either has or very much wants a say in personnel decisions, which makes sense considering his departure from the Brooklyn Nets over a similar desire.

That means Kidd taking Kidd makes a lot of sense for the Bucks, both because of fit and because, you know, why wouldn’t you draft yourself if you could? Milwaukee has strong starters present in Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo, the currently-injured Jabari Parker and even young Thon Maker, but Malcolm Brogdon might be better suited to the bench than the starting lineup.

Brogdon played well last season, but it’s not a tough decision for Jason Kidd to start Jason Kidd over him. Kidd is likely one of the best point guards in NBA history, amassing 10 All-Star nods and nine All-Defensive team placements.

Kidd’s long career hampers his numbers slightly, as he played until age 39. For his career, Kidd averaged 12.6 points, 8.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Kidd was never a deadeye shooter, although he did nail 34.9 percent of his 3s as a player.

Kidd was also never a bulk scorer, but he did lead the NBA in assists five different times throughout his career. The young Bucks would find life a lot easier with an expert floor general like Jason Kidd at the helm — imagine Giannis getting good looks fed to him constantly from a player with the vision of Kidd. The Greek Freak would look even better, which seems almost inconceivable.
