The Pittsburgh Penguins are one win away from returning the Stanley Cup Final after dominating the Ottawa Senators in Game 5.

The Pittsburgh Penguins utterly dominated Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Ottawa Senators. Pittsburgh jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the first period. By then it was obvious the Senators were not going to be able to make a comeback. The Penguins were faster and out worked Ottawa at every opportunity.

Ottawa never showed up in Game 5 and compounded their lack of effort by making dumb mistakes. Olli Maatta opened the scoring with a slap shot from the point thanks to Ottawa forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau not covering Maatta and screening goalie Craig Anderson.

The Senators power-play continues to struggle. Pittsburgh took a penalty shortly after the Maatta goal. However, it was the Penguins who had the best scoring chance. Away from the play, Mark Stone took a terrible slashing penalty that led to a Sidney Crosby power-play goal.

Four minutes later, another deflected pass beat Anderson leading head coach Guy Boucher to pull the Senators goalie. After a commercial break, Boucher put Anderson back in the net. Less than two minutes later the Penguins made it 4-0.

The Penguins are firing on all cylinders and will be tough to stop in Game 6. If Ottawa has any chance of winning they need a bounce back game from Anderson. However, with Crosby catching fire, the Senators playoff run could come to an end in Game 6.
