Will the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators in Game 6 to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals on Tuesday?

The Ottawa Senators’ season has been a Cinderella story. It might be coming to an end on Tuesday night, when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ottawa is down to them 3-2 in their best of seven series. Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be held at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on Tuesday starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.

On the home side of the ice, the Senators face a must win situation. They’ve been there before this season. However, this will be the first time in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs that Ottawa has faced an elimination game from the other end. It’s up to captain Erik Karlsson, goaltender Craig Anderson and the rest of the crew to step it up and ensure Game 6 isn’t the Senators’ last game of the season. Guy Boucher’s infamous trap must be better than it was in Game 5, when Pittsburgh beat Ottawa 7-0.

Meanwhile, the Pens have to be confident about their chances. They’re in control of the series after winning the past two games and three of the last four. In 33 combined postseason games, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have 42 points, including 13 goals. Matt Murray has been outstanding after replacing Marc-Andre Fleury in net. He got injured early in the postseason, but eventually got his job back thanks to Pittsburgh’s 5-1 loss to Ottawa in Game 3.

Prediction

Things aren’t looking good for the Senators. They’ll have to pull off a miracle to force Game 7 the way Pittsburgh has been playing over the past two games. However, Ottawa will have home-ice advantage on their side. But the Senators’ marvelous season will end on Tuesday, sadly.
