SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon officially announced the Money in the Bank ladder match for the June pay-per-view on tonight’s episode.

As the SmackDown LIVE world prepared for the Punjabi celebration for new WWE champion Jinder Mahal, Shane McMahon opened this week’s SmackDown episode by announcing the brand’s Money in the Bank participants.

McMahon had each come out individually to start the show, with AJ Styles getting a huge pop as the first one out from the back for the match. Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, and Dolph Ziggler all followed shortly after, before United States champion Kevin Owens made his way out to the ring.

The SmackDown LIVE commissioner showed some confusion during Owens’ entrance, and announced he actually wasn’t in the match, before introducing Shinsuke Nakamura as the fifth entrant into the match.

Owens showcased some disappointment at McMahon for not putting him in the MITB match, and said he didn’t put him in because KO beat Styles at Backlash, when McMahon failed to beat him at WrestleMania last month. Owens goated McMahon into putting him into the match as the sixth participant, making it the usual even number fans are used to.

It was a bit weird to see five participants announced, departing from the usual six or eight wrestlers competing in it the past few years, so it was a given to see Owens added as he was.

Either way, Styles, Corbin, Zayn, Ziggler, Nakamura, and Owens will all surely put on a show in the ladder match at Money in the Bank on June 18, and we’ll see a rematch between Mahal and Randy Orton for the WWE title.

Who knows, we could even see another same-night cash-in, like Dean Ambrose did last year on Seth Rollins, and see the winner of this match cash in on whoever wins in the WWE title main event again.
