Tiffany Case: You’ve got a lot of guts showing up here! After letting me freeze my behind off at a blackjack table for two hours waiting for some nonexistent diamonds! And what the hell is my black wig doing in the pool?
Name: Tiffany Case
Portrayed By: Jill St. John
Appearances: Diamonds Are Forever
Background
Tiffany Case is an expert in diamonds–smuggling them, that is. However, she is unaware that her latest assignment is to help smuggle diamonds on behalf of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. She was born on the second floor of Tiffany’s. She has an apartment in Amsterdam.
Relationship With Bond
When Tiffany meets Bond in Amsterdam, she is under the impression that he is Peter Franks, arriving from England to help her smuggle diamonds into the United States. When Bond kills the real Peter Franks, in a lift in Tiffany’s apartment building, he leads her to believe that the dead man is James Bond. From that moment on, their relationship is initially built on mutual distrust.
After arriving in Los Angeles, Bond and Tiffany Case go their separate ways. But they reconnect in Las Vegas, where Tiffany betrays Bond, passing the diamonds on to the next handler. Not until she realizes her life is in danger, and that Peter Franks is really James Bond, does Tiffany commit to recovering the diamonds.
Tiffany is of help when Bond sneaks into a van bound for a laboratory and helps him escape from security from that same lab, after Bond finds that the diamonds are being used for a satellite.
After Bond learns that Blofeld is the one obtaining the diamonds, using the identity of Vegas hotel owner Willard Whyte, Tiffany is abducted by Blofeld and taken to an oil rig. There, she helps Bond thwart Blofeld’s plan of holding the world hostage with a powerful laser, powered by the diamonds.
