Raptors’ Dwane Casey says he will return as the team’s head coach next season.

Many may not know this, but the Toronto Raptors’ Dwane Casey is the franchise’s winningest coach. But because of flaws, such as his inability to lead his team past the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs, many fans and critics believed that Casey’s time in Toronto was nearing its end after team president Masai Ujiri said that the Raptors needed a “culture reset.”

According to Casey, who was on the TSN 1050’s “Naylor & Landsberg” show, his job is safe. Casey said that he has had meetings with Ujiri and they all went well. He also said that they are already discussing things that they can do to improve the team.

Per The Score:

"“Yes … I think people mistook Masai’s comments,” Casey said on TSN 1050’s “Naylor & Landsberg” show in regard to comments Ujiri made about an organizational culture change. “We had a good meeting, and we’ve had meetings since then.”“I think people panicked. It was after an emotional series against Cleveland,” Casey said. “We’re doing some good things, and things we could do much better with, and that’s what we plan on doing this summer and also in the fall when we go to training camp.”"

Casey is the longest coach that the Raptors’ franchise has had and is also the only coach in franchise history who has won more than 50 percent of regular season games (54.8%). In the six seasons that he has coached the Raptors, he has led them to 261 wins (out of 476 games), and also led them to the Eastern Conference Finals once.
