No. 8: UGA of Georgia

Name of Show: The UGA Games: Catching Fido

Network: ABC

Voiceover By: Matthew Broderick

In The UGA Games: Catching Fido, UGA the bulldog is trying to make something of his life. He’s known to be a couch potato, who’s also spoiled by his posh owner. Becoming sick of luxury, UGA endorses the idea of ditching his Nyla bones for something more important: self-respect and dignity.

UGA is not like most dogs. His well-to-do owner parades him around town and at country clubs to the point of pageantry. UGA is also “dressed for success” with his designer sweaters during winter months and custom-made sunglasses for when it’s more sunny. Discovering that he’s spoiled to a fault, UGA basically protests this kind of living and, therefore, decides to march to the beat of his own drum.

The purpose of The UGA Games: Catching Fido is for UGA to find and define himself outside of commodity. He wants to enlist in his own journey that includes muddy paw prints and yelping at squirrels from a distance. That sort of freedom will give UGA enough room and motivation to make it by himself in a world that’s distracted by material goods. Additionally, UGA will experience encounters of friendship and, yes, love.

Matthew Broderick, the frontrunner in making UGA shine in this TV series, did well with Simba in The Lion King. He brought Simba to life during moments of grief and love. Broderick could end up doing the same with UGA, an icon at the University of Georgia. Furthermore, Broderick has a knack for “connecting” with animals directly, as his role in Godzilla pointed out.
