Domino: You’ve been reading the wrong books, Mr. Bond.
Name: Dominique “Domino” Derval
Portrayed By: Claudine Auger
Appearances: Thunderball
Background
Domino is Emilio Largo’s mistress and lives with him, at his estate in Nassau, Bahamas. She is unaware that her brother, a NATO pilot, was killed by Largo and replaced by a lookalike.
Relationship With Bond
James Bond decides to travel to Nassau to gain information from Domino, in an attempt to learn more about her brother. They meet on a diving excursion. Bond helps free one of Domino’s fins from a jagged reef. From there, the two share lunch, after which Bond nearly slips up, calling her “Domino,” when she had not yet revealed that to be her nickname. After she questions him on this, Bond points at that the name is on her ankle bracelet. Later, over drinks, Bond learns that Domino is Largo’s mistress, something of which she is not proud. In public, she calls herself his “niece.”
The two do not meet up again until seeing each other while scuba diving. After returning to shore, Bond reveals that her brother was killed by Largo. Domino then agrees to help Bond determine if stolen nuclear warheads are on board Largo’s boat, the Disco-Valente. But Domino gets caught, trying to use a geiger counter, and Largo locks her in a cabin.
After Bond leads Navy SEALS on an attack on Largo’s men, he sneaks on board the Disco-Valente. Bond and Largo fight at the wheel of the boat, and Largo eventually pulls a gun on him. Bond appears doomed. But Domino, having now escaped from the cabin, shoots Largo in the back with a spear gun.
Domino and Bond jump from the Disco-Valente and are later picked up, by cable, from a patrolling plane.
