Sadly, The Originals is taking a week off to make room for a Penn & Teller special. The show will be back next week as it begins its run to the finale.
Last week was a big one for The Originals. After spending most of the episode being tortured by The Hollow, Elijah is unable to be saved by the rest of his family, who spent most of the hour desperately trying to find a way to do just that.
Additionally, his death means that The Hollow was able to complete the sacrifice needed to get her body back. But is this really the end for Elijah Mikaelson?
It may look that way now, but this is The Originals, so there is always a chance the death is not permanent. In fact, there was a glimmer of hope for Elijah thanks to Hope. In a last ditch effort to save her brother, Freya transferred his spirit into a magical necklace, but The Hollow shattered it.
Freya tried to make contact with Elijah to see if he was in the necklace with no luck. As Klaus yells at Freya to do more to save their brother, Hope walks into the room. Touching her Aunt’s shoulder combines their power, and they are able to sense Elijah inside the necklace.
However, when the pendant shattered, so did Elijah’s mind. In order to bring him back, someone will have to go inside his mind and help him piece it back together. That will be the mission for The Originals when it returns with new episodes on June 2.
It may turn out the Elijah’s death is only temporary, but it will serve as a way to bring all of the living Mikaelson siblings back together. Kol and Rebekah will return to New Orleans to be with their family.

This is good seeing as The Hollow now has her body and will be even more powerful. The Mikaelsons will need all the help they can get to defeat this enemy. And with the show now down to its final four episodes of the season, the action is sure to only get more intense.
