The NHL reportedly wants the Nashville Predators to host an outdoor game. Here are three perfect venues for the game.

The Nashville Predators have won over the state of Tennessee. They are one of the NHL’s success stories in the south. Despite a bit of a slow start, the Preds showed the world they’re a hockey town with the 2016 NHL All-Star Game. Now commissioner Gary Bettman wants them to host an outdoor game.

“It is something we’re going to be looking at because as we had a wonderful draft, a spectacular All-Star Game, both in Nashville,” said Bettman, via 104.5 The Zone. “The fans are great, they have developed their own special traditions and ways of watching the game.”

Nashville has its own special charm. It’s not like other hockey towns, but it is one of the quickest rising markets in the league. 165,000 households in the city watched the Preds beat the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6. This is impressive considering there are just under 250,000 total homes in Nashville.

The city has a very unique charm, one that would flourish on the national stage. If you haven’t been introduced to Nashville as a hockey town yet, you will be over the course of the Stanley Cup Finals. Here are three venues for an outdoor Predators game.

3. Nissan Stadium

Why it would work: The Tennessee Titans stadium has a relatively easy schedule to work around. Even if they go on a long playoff run, they won’t be there past January. While there are concerts and other events there year round, it’s remarkably easy to build and take down the rink for outdoor games.

Why it wouldn’t work: Its capacity isn’t even 70,000. Sure, you can add about 2,000 to the capacity for standing room, but still, there are larger venues. And outdoor games are all about the money. The math is simple. More seats, more money.
