The summer transfer window is approaching and every team’s fans are dreaming of a big signing.

Now that all of Europe’s big leagues’ seasons are wrapping up, fans and pundits will begin to turn their attention to the transfer market. While there are bound to be some big names swapping clubs, this is primarily a time of wild fantasy.

Every week, FanSided will round up some of the most pie-in-the-sky gossip. Will it be Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Celtic? Paul Pogba back to Juventus? Ronaldinho out of retirement to play in MLS?

Here are the five dumbest transfer rumors for the week of May 27.

1. Ander Herrera to Barcelona

Not even 24 hours after Herrera’s Europa League victory with Manchester United, the Daily Mail is already speculating he could be on the way out. That makes sense for some players, whose future has been uncertain all season (like Wayne Rooney or David De Gea).

For a player like Herrera, though, such a rumor must be largely conjecture. It may well be that Ernesto Valverde wants the Spaniard at Camp Nou, but he probably “wants” every good player at his club. Valverde isn’t even officially the Barca manager yet, still technically in charge at Athletic Bilbao.

Valverde did coach Herrera from 2013–14 at Bilbao, but that’s just one connection. Herrera is widely expected to be the next captain at United, and it’s very hard to picture a scenario where Jose Mourinho would consider letting him go. He just won United’s player of the year award, after his best season yet at Old Trafford.
