Rangers’ Jared Hoying makes incredible catch (Video)

Texas Rangers outfielder Jared Hoying made an unbelievable catch and stays in the game after being shaken up.
Rangers centerfielder Jared Hoying robbed Kevin Pillar of the Blue Jays an extra base hit in the fifth inning of Saturday’s game in Toronto. At first, Hoying appeared to be badly injured after running hard into the plexiglass scoreboard. He would, however, remain in the game.
The Rangers’ training staff and most of the players on the field rushed to centerfield to aid Hoying. The 28-year-old doubled over in pain on the warning track after he immediately flipped the ball to fellow outfielder Delino DeShields, knowing the Blue Jays had a baserunner.

Hoying has recently seen a considerable amount of playing time in centerfield, filling in for injured starting centerfielder Carlos Gomez.
Hoying made his major league debut last season and appeared in 39 games for the Rangers in 2016. Not regarded as a heavy hitter, Hoying hit .217/.265/.261 in 49 plate appearances with no home runs and five RBIs last year.
Filling in for Gomez, Hoying has played in eight games this season. He’s hitting .269/.259/.423 and recently hit his first career home run on May 17 against the Phillies.
Hoying’s catch occurred in the outfield of Rogers Centre, where Kevin Pillar, the man whose potential hit he robbed, is used to making draw-dropping catches. However, today was Hoying’s turn to steal the spotlight north of the border.

Beyond just baseball, Hoying seems like an interesting guy. He’s an avid bow hunter and the cousin of Scott Hoying, member of popular a capella group Pentatonix. Combine his bow hunting with his ability to stay in a baseball game after such a hard collision, it’s probably also safe to say that Hoying is quite a tough dude.
