Twin Peaks made the third and fourth parts of their revival season available for streaming moments after the premiere. Here’s a synopsis of the episodes.
Twin Peaks was essentially cancelled from ABC for being too ahead of its time. But after a 25-year exodus, it made its triumphant return to Showtime, and die-hard fans spent four hours of their weekend poring over every episode.
After the two-part premiere aired on Sunday, episodes 3 and 4 were available on the channel’s streaming service Showtime Anytime. But Twin Peaks’ reach goes well beyond the number of people who are subscribed to Showtime, meaning there might be some people who have yet to find out what happens next.
Here’s the synopsis for parts 3 and 4, according to TV Guide:
"Call for help… brings back some memories."
Obviously, that doesn’t make things any clearer. However, we went ahead and recapped the two episodes, which should at least help the synopsis make a bit more sense. But anyone who saw the season premiere was treated to an episode that managed to be more confusing than anything from the original series. While it only intrigued devoted fans even further, it might’ve alienated some newer viewers who aren’t familiar with David Lynch’s work.
While the Twin Peaks premiere spent as much time on new characters as returning ones, we saw more familiar faces this time around. One person who featured prominently was FBI Director Gordon Cole. Now that David Lynch is directing every episode of the revival, one wonders if we’ll see more of his character this time around. Hopefully the answer to that is no, since it doesn’t take long for him yelling in every scene to get old.

While this next batch of episodes didn’t try to make things more accessible, it did go back to being humorous. And for a show that deals with such heavy subject matter, the comic relief is very much needed.
