Here’s a look at this week’s news in the world of James Bond.
Headlines:
- As most are aware, Sir Roger Moore, who played James Bond in seven films, passed away at age 89. According to his family, he died after a short battle with cancer. A funeral will be held, in a private ceremony, in Monaco.
- Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, heads of EON Productions released a joint statement, saying, “We are heartbroken at the news of Sir Roger Moore’s passing. On the screen, he reinvented the role of James Bond with tremendous skill, charisma and humour.”
- Upon news of Moore’s death, other Bond actors honored him by releasing statements.
- Chris Cornell, who sang “You Know My Name,” was laid to rest at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
- There is still no word on which studio will be distributing Bond 25. Five studios are vying for the rights to Bond: Sony Pictures, Universal, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., and Annapurna.
- In honor of Roger Moore, Park Circus announced that a special screening double feature of The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only will be held at selected theaters, worldwide. In the United States, AMC Theaters will be the hosting the screenings. Screenings will begin on May 31.
