Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout left Sunday afternoon’s game against the Marlins with a left thumb sprain
Mike Trout left Sunday afternoon’s matinee matchup against the Marlins with a left thumb sprain. Angels fans and fantasy baseball players all over the world are currently holding their breaths as they wait for a possible timetable if he needs to miss any time from it.
Trout hurt his hand after he was sliding into second off a stolen base attempt in the top of the fifth inning. He remained in the game for one more inning, before he was eventually removed to receive some x-rays.
Fortunately for Trout, there was no fracture found in his thumb.
Trout is regarded is the best player in the MLB at the moment, and his stats certainly support that claim. He is currently hitting for a .337 average with 16 home runs and 36 RBI, and he has stolen 10 bases on the season. His 16 home runs are currently tied for the most in the majors, and he became the second quickest player to reach at least 15 home runs and 10 stolen bases in a season since 2006.

Trout has won the AL MVP award twice in the last three seasons, and he was well on his way to possibly winning another this season. Trout is already inching closer to 1000 career hits and 200 career home runs at the age of 25. If Trout’s injury is deemed severe, it will not only devastate Angels fans, but baseball fans in general will be disheartened to hear the news.
With his injury only being deemed a left thumb sprain, Trout seems as though he has dodged a serious injury. We’re sure the Angels will be extra cautious with their star player, as they don’t want this injury to become severe.
