19. Mr. Commodore

It doesn’t get any more respectful than by referring to someone as sir or Mr. and that’s the case with Vanderbilt. Mr. Commodore has certainly earned his respect in college by being around since most universities have been.

How long has that been? Try out the late 19th century for size. There’s a lot of respect o be had here.  One of the things that classic mascots with lineage like Mr. Commodore understand is the gamesmanship behind being the identity.

Sure, he looks goofy in his role as and that’s part of the pride that is behind his story. The SEC is filled with heavyweights in this regard and Mr. Commodore might not get the same coverage as say a Big Al or an Albert the Gator, but you better believe he gets the respect he deserves.

Don’t believe the myth behind the legend? He was the 2003 National Mascot Champion. Yeah, that means Mr. Commodore has the accolades to walk with the bravado that he does every Saturday.

He’s not necessarily the goofiest in comparison to other mascots, but when you’re this great, you deserve to be on every mascot list.
