4. Lil’ Red
It should be noted that the land of inflatable mascots is an entirely different realm. Everyone has seen the giant inflatable mascot that walks around swallowing people up and dancing on it’s head a thousand times.
So, it’s only fitting that Nebraska has Lil’ Red. While their main mascot is Herbie Husker, the program has all the accolades necessary to house two mascots. Most times, the inflatable mascot doesn’t get as much love as the main one but Lil’ Red does.
It certainly has the creepy face that no one wants to run up in a back alley in the middle of Lincoln. Still, in the broad daylight it’s funny watching him spin on his head and do whatever inflatable things do.
There’s no popping this mascot’s ability to be goofy. He may not be your standard issued wacky, wavy, arm-flailing, inflatable tube man, but he’s a mainstay in the in-game entertainment rotation for the Cornhuskers.
The whole inflatable mascot thing is so overplayed to this point that you have to be a special one to stand out from the rest. Everyone has seen just about all the tricks in the book. He’s definitely doing something right then to say the least.
