Bleecker Street has released the trailer for Logan Lucky, starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and, of course, Daniel Craig. The film, directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh, is scheduled to be released this August.

Logan Lucky will be Daniel Craig’s first non-Bond screen role since The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

in 2011. The film also stars Riley Keough, Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, and Hillary Swank. Bleecker Street Productions has released the following information about the film:

"Trying to reverse a family curse, brothers Jimmy (Channing Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Adam Driver) set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway."

The film’s general plotline and humor is reminiscent of Soderbergh’s three Ocean’s films, particularly Ocean’s 11. Soderbergh recently told Entertainment Weekly that he came out his “retirement” because the material seemed right.

So, what can we tell from these first clips? One thing, for sure: this is Daniel Craig at his most unBond-like. And that is a good thing. Craig plays Joe Bang, an expert at blowing up bank vaults. His role appears similar to that of Don Cheadle’s in the Ocean’s films. However, Bang appears to be a little unstable, already “in-car-cer-ate-d” when we ‘re introduced to him. Who else was a bit stunned to see Craig in a prison uniform rather than the customary tuxedo?

We’ll have to see what other tricks Craig has up his sleeve when he appears in Kings, with Halle Berry, also set to be released later this year.
