The Spurs’ Tony Parker says he will return better than ever in the 2017-18 season.

When Tony Parker injured his left quadriceps tendon in Game 2 of the second round of the NBA playoffs against the Rockets, a lot of people thought the 2016-17 NBA season would be his last. However, the point guard recently told L’Equipe he plans on returning to the court in January.

Per The Score:

"“I will play my best basketball when I return in January,” the 35-year-old said."

In the interview, Parker also added that he was really disappointed with the injury because he was playing really well in the playoffs and everything was clicking for him.

Per Euro Hoops:

"“The first thing that came in when I got injured, was frustration. I was super good and we had the chance to go until the end and get the title,” Parker said.“The coach’s plan worked like a clock. I was consistent, playing for twenty to twenty five minutes per game. My series against Memphis was good and I had a good start in the season,” he added."

Prior to his injury, Parker was playing the best basketball he’s played all year, averaging just under 16 points per game on 52.6 percent shooting and 3.2 assists per game in the postseason. In the regular season, he was just averaging 10.1 points and 4.5 assists per game.

The Spurs went on to defeat the Rockets in six games. However, they were swept by the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals as they didn’t have the manpower to handle their opponent.
