NBA Draft 2017: 5 prospects with All-Star potential
By Ynal Al-Ouri
The upcoming 2017 NBA Draft has no shortage of talent, and these five prospects lead the way with All-Star potential.
The 2017 NBA Draft is considered by many to be loaded with talented players. Even after the lottery picks get selected, there are still quality players that will be left on the board who could potentially make an impact on their respective NBA teams in short order.
However, there are particular prospects who stand out from the rest with All-Star potential. Not only were they dominant in college, but they each possess elite skills and intangibles that could translate to the next level in ascendant fashion.
Here are five prospects who stand out from the rest with All-Star potential.
Honorable Mentions:
Josh Jackson, SF, Kansas
Jackson is a very talented player, and has shown the ability to play on both sides of the ball. Talent level isn’t the reason he didn’t make the list, it’s his issues off the court that worry us. If he can stay out of trouble, he could very well be an All-Star someday in the NBA.
Malik Monk, SG, Kentucky
Monk is a tremendous scorer, as evident by the 19.8 points per game he averaged in his freshman season. However, he doesn’t usually impact the game elsewhere. If his shot is not falling, he could disappear from games. Working on other parts of his game could propel him to be an All-Star in the NBA someday.
5. Jonathan Issac, SF/PF, Florida State
Issac is an intriguing prospect due to his height, length, athleticism, and versatility. Although he still has a relatively thin frame, he showed the ability to play both forward spots in college, which will help any team that drafts him right off the bat.
Despite his frame, Issac was a solid rebounder in college, and was able to rack up steals and blocks due to his ability to jump into passing lanes and alter shots with his length. His long range shot isn’t perfect, but he has shown that the ability is there and it will only get better as he progresses.
Issac helped lead Florida State to it’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2012 last season, and will look to make an immediate impact on any NBA team he ends up with. A projected top-seven pick by many, Issac has all the tools and potential to become an elite level talent in the NBA.
