Marshawn Lynch signed with the Oakland Raiders this offseason, and team legend Charles Woodson is OK with him wearing his No. 24.
The Oakland Raiders bolstered their running game for the 2017 NFL season, signing former Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch to a two-year deal this offseason. Throughout his NFL career, Lynch has worn the No. 24, though that number holds some reverence in Oakland. However, Charles Woodson gave the blessing for Beast Mode to wear his number, and that was all the team needed to hand the number to their newest star back.
Brian Hoyer played under Kyle Shanahan when the two were in Cleveland, as Shanahan used to be the offensive coordinator for the Browns. For the 2017 NFL season, the two will reunite, though on the other side of the country. Hoyer is slated to be the team starter for the San Francisco 49ers, and Shanahan will be enjoying his first season as a head coach in the NFL.
A former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who has yet to find work is Colin Kaepernick, who visited with the Seattle Seahawks last week. On Monday, New York Giants co-owner John Mara explained why his team did not go after Kaepernick, calling it “an emotional issue.” Regardless, Kaepernick is certainly talented enough to play in the league, and the only question is what team is willing to take on all that comes with signing him.
The Minnesota Vikings did a lot to change their running back situation this offseason, letting former All-World back Adrian Peterson walk. The team then went out and signed Latavius Murray, a solid running back who has played his entire career with the Oakland Raiders, before drafting Florida State star running back Dalvin Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Jerick McKinnon, who backed up Peterson in Minnesota, does not want to be forgotten in the depth chart and is telling people, “don’t count me out” of the team’s RB battle.

Finally, the Dallas Cowboys were in the headlines this weekend, but for the wrong reason. Nolan Carroll, one of the players expected to contribute in the team’s secondary, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge. The Cowboys signed Carroll back in March to a three-year deal that will pay him $10 million, though it does appear that his career with the team will get off to a rocky start.
