Robert Pattinson says he was nearly fired from Twilight franchise

Robert Pattinson claims he was almost fired from Twilight.

Robert Pattinson is best known as portraying the handsome teenage vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga films. However, things were nearly much different as the actor claims he almost got fired from the role that made him a Hollywood heartthrob, and shot him to superstar status.

According to People Magazine, Robert Pattinson revealed during his time at the Cannes Film Festival that his career was nearly altered when he almost got fired from the first Twilight film back in 2008. RPattz, as his fans call him, claimed that his rebellious behavior on set almost cost him his job. Thankfully, his agents were able to work out a deal that allowed him to stay in the role that made him famous.

Now, Pattinson looks back on his days filming the Twilight Saga movies as “good luck” and a “luxury.” The actor knows that he will likely always be remembered as Edward Cullen, and he’s come to terms with that fact.

"“I think one of the best things, basically, about being a bit of a sellout, is if you’ve done five movies in a series, you’ve had to accept some responsibility for playing the same character,” Pattinson said."

Since playing a teenage vampire, Pattinson has appeared in films such as Remember Me, Water For Elephants, Cosmopolis, Bel Ami, and Queen of the Desert. The actor’s latest film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival. Good Time, in which Pattinson plays a man desperate to get his brother out of prison, is earning the star critical praise for his performance, and his fans are sure to love seeing a different side of him in the film.
