Here are 15 NHL players who would be hits in the WWE.

When you think about it, the NHL and the WWE aren’t too different. Both encourage fighting. Hockey is the lone sport where you can punch someone repeatedly and not be suspended for a very long time. Deep down, sports are all about entertainment, just like the WWE.

However, not too many hockey players would be good professional wrestlers. Most of them lack charisma and personality (see: Sidney Crosby). But this doesn’t mean there aren’t some potential WWE stars putting on skates for a living. They might be relatively rare, but there are some players with personality.

Most of these players will be heels because this writer is slightly biased towards them. However, there are still some good face characters in the NHL. Let’s take a look at which 15 players should consider a WWE career.

15. Connor McDavid

The end of John Cena’s career is near. Or at least his career as being a legitimate title contender. For over a decade, Cena has been the face of the WWE. It’s a tough job, but he’s got the chops and the charisma to pull it off beautifully. Believe it or not, the NHL might have his perfect replacement – Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.

Unlike most stars, the 2015 first overall pick isn’t boring. McDavid has that good guy vibe about him, which works in his favor. He’d get cheers no matter where he is. Of course, as McDavid develops as a hockey player, those cheers might turn into boos.

It takes an impressive talent to draw both cheers and boos to be a quasi-face. But McDavid has everything it takes to pull it off. He has charisma, showmanship, speed, youth and marketability on his side.
