After losing Game 1, the Nashville Predators look to even the series with the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Nashville Predators, 5-3, in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. However, that might be the only meaningful takeaway from Game 1. The Penguins went over 30 minutes without a shot and became the first team in Stanley Cup Final history to go without a shot in a period. However, Pekka Rinne had his worst game of the playoffs in Game 1. The Nashville goalie allowed four goals on 11 shots.

Game 1 was not without its controversy. The Predators thought they opened the scoring but had a goal overturned from an offside challenge. Pittsburgh scored three goals in the final five minutes of the first period to build up a comfortable lead. The Predators used the power play to climb back into the game tying the game with less than seven minutes remaining. Three minutes later Jake Guentzel scored the winner and Nick Bonino scored an empty net goal.

In Game 2, it is unrealistic to expect Nashville to hold Pittsburgh to 12 shots but it is also unrealistic to expect Rinne to play so poorly. The Penguins won 57.9 percent of faceoffs which helped them hold the Predators to only 26 shots. Game 2 could be decided by the power play. Nashville scored on two of their three power plays. While Pittsburgh converted one of their three power plays.
