The David De Gea transfer rumors are starting up again, and it is being reported that Manchester United have turned down a £60 million bid for the goalkeeper.

It is being reported that Real Madrid have seen a £60 million ($77.3 million) bid for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea rejected. This is the third summer in a row that De Gea has been linked with a move back to his hometown, with all speculation surrounding Real Madrid.

The transfer fee would be the biggest for a goaltender in EPL history.

De Gea has been the subject of transfer rumors to Real Madrid for three straight summers now, but has never confirmed his interest, nor has he ever handed in a transfer request. These transfer rumors include the transfer mix-up that occurred two summers ago, where Real Madrid reportedly filed the transfer paperwork too late.

Manchester United are standing firm in the transfer market, as they hold all the cards. David De Gea signed a contract extension that will see him stay at Old Trafford for at least the next two seasons. Along with that, Manchester United has qualified for the UEFA Champions League, meaning their is no competitive reason for David De Gea to want to force a move.

It seems as if Real Madrid are going to have to throw a significantly larger fee at United, and possibly toss in players as well, if they are to secure the services of De Gea. Rumors of Keylor Navas being part of the deal are unconfirmed, but would likely make the Red Devils much more willing to sell De Gea, who is widely regarded to be the best goalkeeper in soccer today.
