5. Manny Fernandez

Defensive lineman Manny Fernandez played on three Super Bowl teams with the Miami Dolphins from 1968 to 1975. He was the NFL’s Unsung Player of the Year in 1973. However, we remember him for his ridiculous ‘stache/chops combo. Man, what is glorious.

If Fernandez wasn’t the visual inspiration for Rafi “Bro-lo El Cunado” on FX’s unforgettable fantasy football dramedy known as The League, then you probably never had two best friends named “Tall Guy” and Brian and an associate you just called Dirty Randy.

While the mustache game of Fernandez’s was impeccable, the chops could cut through glass like diamonds through talc. He may have played with greater talent around him on many of those tremendous Don Shula teams. However, it was Fernandez who had the best mustache game of them all.

As the hair atop his head diminished, his chop game would set the NFL ablaze with fiery passion. If you really think about it, Fernandez could technically have been the NFL’s Most Interesting Man. He doesn’t always grow chops, but when he does, he prefers to rock a dominating mustache with them. Stay hairy, my friends.
