San Francisco Giants 22-33

Last week: 2-5
Last rank: 22

Ok, Hunter Strickland, you’ve shown us you are the toughest guy in the big leagues. Congratulations. An unnecessary feud will leave the Giants down a man in their bullpen for almost a week. That’s exactly what this team needs as they struggle to keep their heads above water.

Who can really blame Buster Posey for letting Bryce Harper take a clean run at his pitcher? An All-Star coming off a concussion has no place in the middle of a wild brawl. There was no reason Strickland needed to carry a grudge over two years. It’s on him to defend himself in that situation.

Kansas City Royals 22-30

Last week: 3-3
Last rank: 24

The Royals did enough in the month of May to push their rebuilding plans a little bit further into the future. Still, it does not look like this team is destined to string together one final push for a World Series before going their separate ways.

Realistically speaking, the Royals have a chance to keep one of their three marquee pending free agents, Lorenzo Cain, Eric Hosmer, or Mike Moustakas. They should focus their energy on re-signing one before the offseason and trading the other two. Hosmer has the most value to the franchise, but would also be the most difficult to hold onto. If the Royals have the cash available to make Hosmer a $180-million offer, go for it.
